XCELLENET TEAMS WITH CERTICOM TO PROVIDE MOBILETRUST™ DIGITAL CERTIFICATE SERVICES TO CUSTOMERS

XcelleNet Joins MobileTrust Partner Program to Offer Advanced Security Technology to its Afaria Customers

ATLANTA, GA and HAYWARD, Calif., February 13, 2001 - XcelleNet, a leading provider of management solutions for the mobile enterprise and Certicom (Nasdaq: CERT and TSE: CIC), a leading provider of mobile e-business security, today announced an alliance to provide advanced security for XcelleNet's customers utilizing Certicom's MobileTrust Certificate Authority (CA). XcelleNet has joined the MobileTrust Partner Program and will utilize Certicom's MobileTrust services to offer digital certificates to customers implementing its award-winning mobile management solution, Afaria(.

By using the MobileTrust CA to issue certificates, XcelleNet will provide its customers a fast, secure connection for e-business transactions on mobile devices. The MobileTrust CA is the first to support both Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) and RSA certificates, enabling secure E-commerce, healthcare and enterprise applications for mobile devices and desktop computers.

"We recognize that security is the number one concern for enterprises that want to extend corporate information out to mobile devices," said Joe Owen, CTO for XcelleNet. "Thanks to our Certicom partnership, we can assure our Afaria customers the most advanced security technology in combination with the most robust mobile management functionality as they deploy enterprise applications out to mobile devices."

XcelleNet offers a complete suite of mobile device management capabilities through its Afaria product line. Afaria enables organizations to track and maintain mobile devices, deploy and install critical business applications, distribute up-to-date content, and automate the interactions between mobile users and corporate system, all from a central location.

Afaria will support MobileTrust services which include Certicom's industry leading implementations of Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), providing advanced security and authentication with the high performance necessary for both mobile devices and high volume servers. ECC is the smallest, fastest and most efficient cryptographic algorithm available today and, as a result, is the preferred choice to secure wireless applications on platforms with limited memory, battery capacity and bandwidth.

Certicom's MobileTrust Partner Program helps partners gain recognition as a trusted provider of secure mobile applications for their customer's most mission-critical communications and transactions.
"The MobileTrust Partner Program enables participants such as XcelleNet to offer their customers trusted, scalable security over the wired and wireless Internet,'' said Dr. Bill Anderson, Managing Director of MobileTrust. "XcelleNet is demonstrating leadership and a clear understanding of enterprise needs by enabling Afaria with digital certificates for secure transactions. As a MobileTrust partner, XcelleNet has ensured that their customers will have convenient and secure access to the advanced mobile security provided by MobileTrust certificates."
