CERTICOM GENERATES NEARLY 60 MILLION ZIGBEE SMART ENERGY CERTIFICATES

Mississauga, ON - April 6, 2015 - Certicom Corp. today announced that it has generated nearly sixty million certificates to more than seventy companies worldwide since the device authentication service for ZigBee Smart Energy was unveiled in 2008.

Providing a root of trust based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), Certicom remains a strong leader in the secure management and enhancement of low-cost interoperability of ZigBee Smart Energy devices.

Alongside achieving great success with providing ZigBee Smart Energy 1.0 certificates to a multitude of Alliance members, Certicom is pleased to commence issuance of ZigBee Smart Energy 1.2 certificates in April to manufacturers whose products are certified by the ZigBee Alliance, including the smart meter roll out in the UK.  The new 1.2 version to ZigBee Alliance's Home Automation standard adds several important features and provides enhancements for certified devices.
