NOVARRA PARTNERS WITH CERTICOM TO DELIVER FULLY SECURE, INSTANT WIRELESS SOLUTION FOR THE ENTERPRISE

Certicom will Provide Advanced Over-the-Air Encryption for Novarra's Wireless Web Enterprise Suite

INTERNET WORLD WIRELESS 2001, NEW YORK, NY, February 22, 2001 - Novarra, Inc. (Arlington Heights, Ill.), a leading provider of instant wireless software empowering the mobile workforce with wireless access to eBusiness applications, today announced an agreement with Certicom to deliver end-to-end security for Novarra's WirelessWeb Enterprise Suite. Certicom (Nasdaq: CERT; TSE: CIC) is a leading provider of mobile e-business security.

Novarra has licensed Certicom's Security Builder cryptographic toolkit to deploy over-the-air encryption with Novarra's instant wireless software solution for the enterprise. Incorporating Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) technology, Security Builder enables strong, scaleable security for virtually every piece of computing infrastructure and is optimized for wireless environments. The alliance with Certicom assures Novarra's customers that the advanced security levels they experience with their desktop eBusiness solutions will now be instantly extended to wireless devices.

"Novarra is committed to providing the enterprise with world-class software that affords the most secure, instant wireless access to eBusiness applications," said Matt Trapani, executive vice president and co-founder of Novarra. "Through our partnership with Certicom, Novarra is able to minimize security risks and provide our customers with secure wireless access to their sensitive business information."

Novarra's WirelessWeb Enterprise Suite utilizes five different types of security to ensure safe access to and transmission of enterprise information to mobile devices. By providing behind the firewall deployment, user authentication and device authorization, Internet and over-the-air wireless encryption using Certicom's powerful ECC, Novarra delivers end-to-end security.

Novarra's software offers a complete solution for enterprises by enabling instant wireless interaction to eBusiness applications from multiple handheld devices, over any wireless network, and without changing existing applications. Novarra's patent-pending software technology manages wireless connectivity and instantly adapts desktop-centric Web content for a high-quality mobile user experience on small-screened devices. Novarra's WirelessWeb microBrowser is a user interface for handheld devices that enables devices to interact with Internet content for dynamic and offline use.

"Novarra is an exciting young company that provides cutting-edge software that enables today's wireless generation with new choices for instant access capability," said Prakash Panjwani, vice president, business development for Certicom. "Certicom's high performance ECC security combined with Novarra's WirelessWeb Enterprise Suite will help to extend the possibilities of wireless communication for the mobile worker."

About ECC
Developed for a broad range of computing platforms and maximum interoperability, Certicom's Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) technology enables strong, high performance security for virtually every piece of the computing infrastructure, including the new generation of small form-factor products such as handheld computers, pagers, cell phones and smart cards. Certicom's patented implementation of ECC technology provides a more efficient alternative to conventional public key cryptographic algorithms in many mobile and wireless environments, allowing for faster processing speed, reduced bandwidth usage and decreased battery requirements. These advantages make Certicom's ECC-based security technology particularly well suited to mobile devices that incorporate less powerful processors, such as handheld computing devices, Internet-enabled phones and two-way pagers.
